Family photography at Hovs hallar, Skåne

Familjeporträtt på Hovs Hallar i Skåne

Båstad. It is in the end of July and the Swedish summer is peaking. I have taken a tour to our south part of the country to photograph a family of five at their summerhouse. The mother in this family has received a documentary family photography-session (A Day in Your Life) as a birthday gift. If you ask me this is the best present anybody can give to somebody that already has everything!

We meet up at Hovs Hallar, a famous coastal area with some dramatic rock formations in the Northwest of Skåne. The family has under a long time talked about making a trip there and finally has a really good reason (me). And talk about dramatic landscape. Red and black rocks, almost no greenery, even the sky is dramatic this day with dark and heavy clouds hoovering out at sea. This rocky beach was the place where one of Sweden’s most famous directors, Ingmar Bergman, shoot the famous scene where the knight meets Death in 1957 (The Seventh Seal) Link out https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f4yXBIigZbg

Authentic family photos

For hours we climb and jump from cliff to cliff, pick wild berries, build high towers of rocks and everybody just relaxes and has fun. Just the way it should be when I photograph your family. That is how you get those authentic photos, with time and no directing. A toe is cut and blood streams out so we head back to get some band aid and fika. Right as we lay down the blanket on the ground rain starts to sprinkle down on us. With the sandwiches in the hands, we run to the car and head back home to the family’s summer house. Here we just hang out for the rest of the day. We play games -video, card and football, take a walk on the beach and to end it all the middle kid finally gets his tooth out (with violence). To celebrate the tooth coming out we pop the champagne and start a barbeque.
